  • A Golden Hour

A busy day, many things accomplished,
but part of me was watching the sun get lower and lower in the sky,
feeling the dry, warm Santana winds,
and knowing there was a northwest swell...

I made my way to Oak Street, a local’s favorite,
to photograph the beauty of this hour before sunset.

  • Just gorgeous, Mary!  I love the golden glow in the waves!

  • Beautiful shots, Mary.  The weather has been so lovely recently, with high surf and warm temps — I’m glad you were able to capture these.  I particularly like the 3rd from the end, with the golden hour color in the backspray!

  • So very beautiful! Sure beats the “gray” of upstate NY this time of year even though we have had very little snow and unusually warm temperatures so far this winter. We do have lovely sunrises and sunsets but it’s cloudy more often than not so we don’t often see them!

  • What a treat!!!!

  • So incredibly beautiful — your work and God’s lighting :)

  • Beautiful! Amazing! There is nothing like the evening sun for setting up beautiful pictures.

  • I’m glad you went and took those pictures. I love to see the waves just before they curl and fall over. I notice you say Santana and not Santa Ana. We always did too, and so did my mom and dad. My mom moved to CA in the early 1920′s, and my dad was born there in 1915. Catalina looks quite close in some of your pictures.

  • really beautiful!!

  • So beautiful. Having spent a couple hours this morning at Main beach, while you were off hiking, I doubly enjoyed these The first two with the wind lifting off are my favorite. So cool how the evening sunlight flecks the waves with gold.
