On the 1st Day of Christmas…
*I gave myself permission to cuddle under the quilt and sleep in.
*Bri took off to go mountain biking with her cousins Dan and Pat, Uncle Bob and Jonathan
*I went to the gym, ran 30 minutes on the elliptical, then the rest of the day was spent resting from the pre-Christmas Day rush. I feel I’ve been going none stop since early November with family portrait sessions, editing photos and keeping the Sawdust Winter Fantasy and LOCA Facebook pages updated.
*Our nephew Dan came over after the bike ride and helped Spence with his computer. He really sped up our Firefox web browser too
(It’s great having a Geek Squad guy in the family)*Finally, it was nice to have time to edit my own family photos
and here’s the first batch from Christmas morning:
Bri’s Wrapping Theme for 2011
(Targets $1 a roll giftwrap!)
Our live Christmas tree and my wrapping paper theme
Spence modeling his new Aloha shirt
(bought it brand new at a Volcum sample sale)
My new Dyson vacuum…finally some serious cleaning power!
Alicia sent Bri her snowboard helmet
since she and Nick are heading to a tropical island to finish his medical college!
And Bri made me this contemporary ornament from beach glass, wire and beads.
Decorating was very minimal this year
just a few of our favorites…candlesticks made by Spence’ sister JoAnn,
snow globes collected when we were first married,
an etching created by a Sawdust artist, a little shepherd and rustic church
found at an after Christmas sale long ago.

Loved having a peek into your morning, and looking forward to your 12 days series.
@ABAHM - that was FAST, I just posted
Thanks for encouraging my 12 Day blogging tradition!
I like the minimal decorations! They really pack a punch!
Always enjoy your pictures!
I was just telling my DIL about your 12 days series, and I am also looking forward to it so much! Glad you got to rest a bit – I know how busy you must have been these last couple of months! We’ve been meeting ourselves coming and going!!
Beautiful! All of it!
I love that you each have a wrapping theme… what a great idea, and it automatically says who the gift is from!
@diary_of_a_soldiers_girl - Target’s affordable gift wrap makes it so easy to have our own theme each year and since most of the gifts have to travel before being open I liked Bri’s idea of using a band of paper instead of bows that get crunched
