  • It’s Her Time Now

    Hey Mom,

I kept the call so short earlier cause I found out it’s $3 a minute to make a call on my phone. While I’m here they have a cell phone I can use to make local calls, which is really nice. Mathias says he has to double check, but he’s pretty sure he has some free overseas minutes on his phone that he doesn’t use, so I’ll be able to call you guys for free that way.

Their house is really nice, it’s part ministry house and part theirs. Their room and the kids rooms are in their separate area, but it’s all the same building. They have two dogs that are super cute. The kids stayed up so they could say hi to me when I got here, but they were really shy, it was cute.

Mathias knows English really well, Angelika barely knows any…so he has to translate for us sometimes.

Anyways, just wanted to give you a little update. If I don’t fall asleep I’ll check back later to see if you’re online :)

    Bri

Just received this quick note via Facebook.
Brianna has arrived safely in western Romania
where she will be serving a German Missionary family for a month.

She left here yesterday morning at 4 am
and didn’t land in Romania till 7 am our time today…
that’s a long time traveling by herself!

She has had a heart for missions since she was 16
    (Bri is now 23)
and she finally had the time and resources and calling to go.
This was also her first time traveling internationally.
(You better believe I was praying!)

  • What an awesome experience!!! I’m sure Skype will be your new best friend. :)

  • Fun to read her note and get a small taste. Thankful she is there and can get settled. Praying!

  • I loved reading her note, too.  I have a friend who helped a missionary family in France – it was truly a blessing to them, and to her!  I know you were eagerly awaiting that call that Bri was safely at her destination!  May God bless her time there!

  • I love the portrait of her there by the door with her bags.  Oh my heart!  I can’t imagine the pride you must feel, and touch of sadness, having her leave.  She’ll have an amazing experience, I’m sure of it.  A great opportunity.  Thanks for sharing this!  I’ll be praying for her.  (I’m sure the month will fly by!)

  • glad to hear she arrived safely..
i’m sure it’s going to be such a neat time in her life~
and yours, as you watch her spread her own wings a little bit further.

sending a big old mama hug from me to you though, that says, i understand it’s not easy at times watching them go. :)

  • Romania, eh? I pray that she has plenty of good times and God times…such a sad place tho, post Soviet Union, as well as Ceauşescu’s reign of terror. This trip might make her a better follower of Christ but in a way that “wrecks” her life.

To be honest, I don’t know what to pray for specifically for your daughter.

    Update from Bri!
“Hey everybody :) , I figure it’s time for a little update. I’ve been busy here, but good! I knew before I came that part of the reason I was coming here was to help serve the missionary family that I’m staying with. So, I have been doing a lot of cleaning and watching the kids, and a little bit of cooking. All of which I’ve enjoyed (with the exception of ironing sheets..cause it was hard for me to see the point in that). Yesterday I went to one of the kids clubs (they have it 3 times a week, each day is a different age group), the kids were so precious…they have so little, but they have so much joy! I also learned to drive a stick…thank the Lord they drive on the same side of the road here. This evening I taught a lesson at the “home group” through a translator, it seemed like they received and enjoyed it. I’m hoping that I can eventually get some of the young people in the church out ministering on the streets (cause I can’t go by myself)…so if you guys would like to pray for that, it would be sweet. Also, I’ve been having a hard time with the time difference. I’m tired most of the day and I don’t take naps to try and adjust, but by the time I want to go to bed I’m wide awake…I usually toss and turn for about 2 hours. So! If you could pray that I miraculously fall right to sleep starting tonight, that would also be sweet. Love you all!”
